Sawdust incineration results

Category : News & Blog

Based on seeds found on the beach in Bali. Using an incinerator with sawdust and wood gives burnished pieces a depth and patina which I love. I finish the pieces with wax polish which enhances the effect.

Balinese seeds used as inspiration

Category : News & Blog

This is Audrey III, based on a seed found on the beach in Bali. Made from Ashraf Hanna Raku clay and burnished using a spoon, biscuit fired and then smoked in an incinerator with sawdust, wood and newspaper. Finished with a wax polish. Very pleasing to touch. Currently in the Shades of Clay exhibition at the Kunsthuis gallery at Crayke near Easingwold.

New work using Parian, porcelain and paper porcelain.

Category : News & Blog

Some of my new work using Parian, porcelain and paper porcelain. Love the free flowing movement I’m getting, reminds me of the beach, cliffs and sea. The cobalt blue is always my favourite, but I love the greys, browns and blacks as a contrast.
